There is a cat sleeping on my arm. Silly kitty. He is so the most 'don't-give-a-fuck' cat in the whole world. Did I mention that when he climbed into the dryer, I turned it on to scare him into avoiding it in the future? He didn't mind. I mean, he got out of the dryer quick enough, but he didn't bolt from the room, he just looked at the dryer like "What the hell was that?"

But anyway. I've been ODing on writing stuff lately, not that it's helped much. I've been looking for good, active writing communities. I'm looking to fill a hole though, and the big bad internet isn't really helpful for something that specific. I miss having friends to exchange writing with, to edit and comment on each other's work and offer advice. I haven't had that since Lisa in 10th grade. Dude. That's five years ago.

Ash sent me writing by email, so maybe we can get back into it, I'm not sure. I signed up on this beta website; I figure it's worth a shot. I'm not sure I want to go looking for a beta, particularly since I don't have anything written, really. But if someone looks and finds me, maybe a relationship could develop. Anyway, with Ash... I liked the piece she set me, though it's iffy as a beginning. There are two fictional articles to read right at the beginning, which I wouldn't use as a way to start a story, it can easily throw certain readers out. I told her that much and told her what I found to be strong spots, but I don't think I went into it as far as I should have. Meh.

Anyway, I decided against the binder method. Instead, I plan to do text documents, and put these on my LJ on a special friends filter so that if I find a beta who wants to look over them, I can add them under that filter. Worldbuilding ahoy!

Also I was reading some old stuff for Eysuria, and it got me all excited again. I was feeling hesitant about first-person present-tense, but I read over my last beginning for Aerlun, and it wasn't bad. Certainly needs a lot of work to make it shine, but much better than I remember it being. Makes it hard to decide which to work on: Eysuria or Somnion. Both, I suppose.

I wrote until I got tired of writing... again, I don't expect anyone to read it, it's far too long. It's just here for me to stumble on some day in the future.

Sooo, tomorrow Danny and I are supposed to do the Valentine's Day thing. He made sooper sekrit plans and told me to bring my nice black dress, look nice... hum, I wonder what he's planning. I'm staying the night tonight and tomorrow night. I can't wait. =P

The present I made him, I don't think I described it last time... I asked his five favorite heroes (Batman, Superman, Spiderman, Nightcrawler, Gambit) and then made a big 'bubble letter' type thing of each letter of his name... and filled each in with something of one of the heroes'. The D has the Batman symbol and gray like the cartoon Batman's costume... I tried to make a six pack, but uh, it looks dumb. The A is like Superman's chest -- the symbol and the blue, that is. One N is Spiderman's chest, the other N is Nightcrawler's with his tail coming around, and the Y is Gambit's eyes on top with cards hiding the rest of his face. I can't wait to give it to him. It isn't perfect (Cris and CJ have both accused Nighcrawler's chest of looking either like an ass or a pussy, for starters), but it turned out better than I genuinely expected, and I think he'll really like it.

I also made him a little card type thing shaped like a heart... and today I wrote... basically a love note in class, though I'm not sure I'll give that last one to him. Maybe, we'll see.

So now I'm waiting for him to get off work. I did my homework so I won't have to worry about it later, and next stop is the bathroom to prepare... shaving and junk. I hate those inopportune zits that crop up, I have one I'm trying to get rid of, lol.

I'm talking to Ash online, it's great, I don't get to talk to her often.

After rereading Ella Enchanted, I found another book by Gail Carson Levine called Fairest and asked my mom to buy it. She got it for me last night, and I finished it today. It was good, too. I think Ella's story will always be the best, but this one was a really great read. Ella had distinct Cinderella plot points, where Fairest had a less obvious Snow White plot going on -- the white skin, black hair, red lips, the queen with the mirror who wanted to be fairest of all, even the huntsmen sent to kill Snow White but couldn't do it. It was definitely different -- for starters Snow White was ugly and the king wasn't her father -- but the theme was there.

Hum. On to preparations, I suppose.
