.253 x money and such

I made $160 last night. Thursday night I put $300 in the bank and last night I put $200 in, so today I transferred them over to my account. I paid off my credit card from buying the tire for my car, put $100 in my savings, and put $100 in my holiday etc. savings. Still have $350 in checking, will be $325 once gas goes through (all hail the lower price of gas). Justin hasn't paid the cable yet as far as I know; once he does, I'll have to give him my share. But the phone bill's paid already, so I'll most likely be able to pay him out of whatever I make tonight, particularly if I do as well as yesterday and Thursday.
Last night was because Juraj cut down to the closing four girls at nine, and I was one of the closers. Shortly thereafter, we got a brief rush, so I actually felt busy as I haven't in weeks. It's hard to make much money if you don't have many tables, even if a number of them tip pretty well. In addition to that, though, I had two guys tip me about $35 each last night. And my 'dinner' was just Texas Toast, which only costs 60 cents, so that didn't take much out of my earnings.
I hope Jordan's off today, or at least doesn't close D: I think I'd prefer it if Margaret works, that way we'll do cuts in increments instead of all at once (Juraj does that kind of commonly) and I'll stand a chance at going home. I don't want to go home really early, but it'd be nice to get out sometime between ten and eleven. Of course, I've had really bad luck with cuts lately, so I could end up closing again. As long as I make money I can't complain too much, especially since I'm off tomorrow.
Jordan fired the hot-girl-cook Alex yesterday and didn't give her a reason. Didn't even give the other managers a reason as far as I'm aware, unless it's one of those manager-solidarity things so they're just not telling anyone. I mean, it's within his rights as a manager, but it's beyond dumb. Especially since Alex is a great cook. Juraj even seemed to disapprove, mentioning that Jordan "fired our best cook." She's won awards or whatever Hooters does for great cooking staffs. And one of the girls said she left crying, which shocks me; she doesn't seem like the crying sort. She seems like the cuss-and/or-punch-you-out sort. Very much takes care of herself and doesn't take crap.
They also changed the rules for meal discounts. We always got half off on our meals while we were at work for anything but seafood or desserts -- seafood because it's expensive for the company, desserts because they "don't want us to get fat." Oh, and kid's meals, because they're already ridiculously cheap compared to other stuff. Anyway, now we only get discounts on "healthy stuff." The list reads grilled chicken, salads, soups, turkey, and ham. So. I think they left off grilled fish by accident; I imagine it counts as healthy, and it doesn't count as seafood because they've discounted it for me before. But!
The soups are not healthy, they're just cheap. We have chili, potato soup, clam chowder, and baja enchilada soup (whatever that is). I mean, they're not particularly unhealthy, but neither is some of the other stuff on the menu, like the chicken philly cheesesteak. I mean, what's wrong with that? It's not even fried!
In addition, in their new health kick, they did not decide to include seafood in our list of options even though the seafood is some of the healthiest stuff available besides salad. So they're just plain cheap. Bastards. I mean, I don't like seafood that much, so it's not like I'd eat it, but it's the principle that bothers me. Just like when they said curly hair wasn't allowed anymore. I don't have curly hair, but I still thought it was ridiculously stupid and even maybe a little discriminating. Some of the girls are still wearing curly hair, so I don't know if they gave up on that or what.
(Read past this point at your peril, I really start just whining for the next two paragraphs.)
I don't know what started all this cracking down, but it's crap. There are "no cell phones allowed on the floor," not even in your pouch on vibrate. Now, this was always a rule, but now they're getting really particular. If they catch you checking your cell in the bathroom, they'll write you up. (Except Juraj, who doesn't care enough to look for you in the lady's bathroom.) I mean, I'm not going to use my cell on the floor. The most I've ever done is copy a sudoku puzzle from it so I have something to do. But I like to know when it vibrates so that, when I have time, I can go check to see if it's something important.
Whatever. As long as they don't rifle through my pouch, I'll be fine, because I don't take my phone out on the floor. (Now I copy my sudokus in the employee bathroom.) But if they ever did make me turn out my pouch and said I had to put my phone in the manager's office, I think I'd have to find the courage to refuse. It's my property. If they want to fire me, that's their loss. I would just try to make the point that if they hadn't turned out my pouch, they never would have known, because I don't take my phone out on the floor.
Enough raving.
So I've been brainstorming writing ideas and I mean to write them down at work, but I don't typically have time to just sit down and write. And when I do, I often play sudoku instead x) I mean, there are times when I'm done with cleaning my section and my guests are taken care of, but there's always something that could be done. Stocking wait stations, busing other girls' tables, sweeping... the only real time I have to sit and write or even play sudoku is in the first thirty minutes to an hour before I get (many) tables.
But I should get ready for work if I want to stop and get chicken nuggets on the way :)
