21/7/08 13:43Wow, okay, I haven't updated in a while. I've had three training days. Today I'll start my first solo shift, but with only two tables in my section. But I'm going to get there early so I can retake my menu test; like many girls, I failed the first time. I actually did really well on most of it, I just didn't study the signature drinks menu enough, and that part turned out to be fill in the blank XD So I missed nearly everything in that section. Blah. But she gave me my test to study, and I put all the drinks on index cards grouped into vodka, rum, or other. I also have to borrow someone's pouch because they don't have any for me to buy. Plus going in early will give me time to eat before work, or else I'll be starving halfway through again.
I'm glad to be done with training. I really can't wait until I get the hang of things and know what I'm doing as well as the other girls. I don't think it'll be too long, but there are certain things to get used to. Like remembering what set up to bring to the table - plates, knives, forks, wet naps? It depends on what they order.
I hope I make decent money. With only two tables it's perfectly possible that I only make twenty dollars. I'll have to be active. Like the girls used to let the guests come in and sit wherever they want, but now they're supposed to greet guests at the door and lead them to their section. Most don't do that, though, because they're so used to the old way, so if I do it... I should be fine. I hope I have at least one booth though; the booths are popular, like at any restaurant. Or a high top, those are more popular than the regular tables at least.
Training was great. The tests made me a little nervous, but that was it. My trainers had regulars who were really nice. Each shift I got to sit and chat with at least one of their regulars for a while, and they're all awesome. My trainer last night was Jessica, and her regulars were the best of all. I sat with them for ages and they really enjoyed my company. They told me how well they thought I would do and how they hoped I lasted a long time.
Wow. I watched Sozin's comet and wow. I really loved it. I loved the epic battle, I loved... well everything, although I was disappointed at the Zuko/Mai and Aang/Katara ending. It doesn't mean that much; fanfiction can turn that completely around, especially considering the Zuko/Katara material aplenty before the lead-down from the climax. But I shouldn't have been surprised. When Mai saved Zuko in The Boiling Rock despite the fact that he dumped her... I knew he couldn't just brush her off. Stories don't work that way. Still, given time they could grow into friends, right? A girl can hope.
Though there were only supposed to be three seasons, they definitely left themselves the option of a fourth season. Zuko's mom... plus Azula went batshit crazy and still has her bending... and she at least has the potential to be as strong a bender as her dad was, if she isn't close already. She could totally be a nemesis. I wouldn't count on it, and I wouldn't complain if this is the end. I wouldn't want them to keep going until they start getting stupid, after all.
But it was so great.
Also, working late is hard because I get home and Danny is practically passed out already :( Hopefully we'll settle into a rhythm though.
