Good night at work. I took Amy's hours because I was only scheduled ten this week. I'm also taking the first half of Marden's opening shift Sunday, meaning I'll only have to work 6am to 10am (and if he's more than fifteen minutes late so help me I'm leaving anyway). Anyway, that'll give me about 21 hours this week. And I only have about 19 scheduled next week but I'm gonna try to pick up a day Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday if possible (preferably Monday or Tuesday). This week's paycheck was only $291. It was for 40 hours (spread over two weeks, of course), and it was only as high as it was because I got five some-odd holiday hours on Memorial Day.
I have to pay Dennis my rent. Apparently he isn't coming home tonight so the cash is just sitting in my purse.
Oh! Oh! Sunday at 2pm Philip Pullman is going to be at the Barnes & Noble at Tysons mall! I'm so going. Danny insists that we aren't staying if it'll be more than a ten minute wait to see him but... still so cool.
So this crazy lady came into Starbucks today carrying half a melted venti iced drink and asking for a refill. She explained that she got it at the College Park Starbucks and left it in her car to get her nails done, which took forty-five minutes, and when she got back it was melted so she wanted a refill. Why should she pay for a whole new one when the old one wasn't even finished? It was just melted. I tried to explain to her that we only do refills on coffee and tea (never mind that it's supposed to be a cup from the same Starbucks the same day), but she kept insisting, so I looked to Leslie. She tried to explain, too, but the lady wouldn't give up so she finally said to go ahead and do it. We gave her the drink for free. By the end of it she was trying to get me to give her my free pound of coffee every week. I don't think she understood exactly what I meant when I said we get a free pound of coffee every week but it was still presumptuous of her... and I'm kind of glad she didn't get it because it means she probably won't pester every barista she comes across for a free pound of coffee.
