9/6/08 16:46Worked 7:30 to 2 today after sleeping weird. I woke up and I seriously thought it was like two days later than it was and I'd already worked Monday. Why was I up so early? Then my alarm went off. Slept pretty well though, just probably had dreams that I forgot as soon as I woke.
Anyway I met the new manager today. Her name is Farida, and she seems nice enough. No way of knowing how well she manages yet, but she's been with the company twelve years and managed a much busier store, so I'm betting she's not bad. She already interviewed and hired a newbie and today was her first day.
I called the manager of College Park back and talked to her today, too. She said she was sorry she hadn't gotten back to me; she accidentally left my info by the register and it got lost. But she took it all again and took my availability for the summer and fall, and told me she'd email my new manager to figure things out. I stopped by to talk to Farida on my way to go tanning to let her know what was going on so the email wouldn't be a surprise.
I'm a tiny bit worried because Brenda is under the impression I want to transfer as soon as possible and Farida is under the impression that I'm in no hurry, just hoping to transfer at least a little while before the school semester begins. Farida needs to hire new people and train them before letting me go. I told Brenda I was willing to transfer whenever, just hoping it was before the semester started, but I didn't contradict her when she said as soon as possible. But I told Farida that whatever they work out is fine with me. I'm sure it'll be fine but I hope neither of them thinks I did anything rude. After all, "as soon as possible" can mean as soon as possible for both stores, which means I'll need to stay a while so Farida can hire new people.
So I tanned for the third time today. I asked for ten minutes but the bed started going a little before I was ready. Applying lotion quickly and thoroughly is challenging. Still, I got plenty of time. I don't look that tan yet but I've been wearing a heart sticker on my abdomen, and the contrast between the covered skin and the skin around it is pretty stark. It's like, "So I was that white and now I'm this white." Yes, I'm a very pale person. I'll try taking a picture when I'm in the sunlight. In the house, the flash screws it up.
Also Breshawn told me that Sheri asked her and Leslie about my performance and they both said I was great, so I'll be getting my raise probably the paycheck after next. $8.80/hr here I come! I'm excited.
