Dad's so funny. He's always looking at Cris' guess-and-check problems and going, "There's gotta be a faster way to do this, but I don't know how. ... Jess!" So I come and figure out the algebra for him. I gotta say, it certainly keeps my math skills sharp.

Today's was: Anna is three times as old as her brother Joey. In three years she will be two times as old as Joey. How old is Joey now?

It took me a bit, but I figured, okay, three times Joey's age now is Anna's age now. So Joey's age now is x and Anna's age now is y.

3x = y

Then 2 times Joey's age in three years is Anna's age in three years.

2 (x + 3) = y + 3

Well, y = 3x, so if we distribute the 2 through the parentheses and replace y with 3x we have:

2x + 6 = 3x + 3
-2x -3 -2x -3

3 = x

So Joey's age now is three.

I explain it to Dad and he's like... Wait... what? That's too confusing. Isn't there an easier way? ... Yeah. Guess and check. But he got it in the end. I still wonder why he worries about my SATs when I haven't had math in about 2 years and I can still figure that shit out.

I feel crappy. I'm not entirely sure what's wrong with me since I'm pretty sure I'm not due to start my period for another week at least, but my body seems to be thinking differently. I don't know.

It's so stupid. I was mad because Dad called me earlier on his way back from getting his work picture taken and told me to make him tuna for a tuna sandwich, so I made enough for all three of us (him, me, and Cris). Cris helped some, dumping the tuna out of the little sealed packages or whatever... no draining on these. Then Dad told me I'd have to wait to get more tuna until he made his third and fourth sandwiches (-coughpigcoughsneeze-), so I did, but I didn't finish it all. He and Cris went back upstairs to work on Cris' test, but the pigs left a huge fucking mess on the counter... they ate sandwiches where I ate my tuna on crackers on my plate so I didn't make a huge mess, and they didn't even have the good sense to make their sandwiches on a paper towel. So I cleaned up their crumbs and spilled flax seed, but I forgot to clean up the tuna itself... you know, clean out the bowl and all, I left it on the stove.

Well, later everyone got all in a tiffy over me not cleaning up the tuna and made me clean it up. They told me to throw it in the trash and then just take the trash out so it wouldn't smell. So I asked if someone had shoes on and could take the trash out for me; Cris did, and I put a new bag in. And mom was like, "What's your malfunction today?" I said, "What?" and she said, "All the attitude." I don't know if I was actually being a bitch or something, but I was pissed, so I said, "It's just that I cleaned up after their mess and everyone's getting mad at me for not cleaning up the tuna."

Later Dad came in my room and I told him mom was mad at me or something, and he said, "No, you were just acting all high and mighty like you weren't going to put shoes on to take out the trash."

That made me cry... once he left... I don't know what's wrong with me.
