So Dennis, Heather, Danny and I went to Ocean City this weekend. Danny and I drove separate; we left Friday night at 7 or so, and followed Dennis and Heather. We all made it there around 11 and had time to go down to the Boardwalk before everything closed down at midnight. Heather and I rode the Zipper, but Danny refused. He might not have fit anyway. When we got back to the beach house we drank some, played Sorry, hung out on the beach, and Heather and I saved a horseshoe crab from a pool he'd gotten stuck in (much to the boys' annoyance).
Saturday we ate breakfast at a Dumsers, played minigolf (I lost, Danny won), played badminton on the beach, and Heather, Danny, and I slowly waded into the ocean (it wasn't sunny, but the water was warmer than it often is this time of year). I got knocked over by a wave. When we showered after, I had buckets of sand in both pieces of my swim suit. Ew.
Danny and I ate dinner at Seacrets. It wasn't super crowded, probably in part because of the hazy near-rainy weather, but it was crowded enough to get an idea of what it'd be like on a beautiful evening. Wasn't as expensive as we expected, either. We went back down to the Boardwalk again with Dennis and Heather after, and Heather, Danny, and I rode this catapult thing... it was amazing. It's a giant two-seater sphere thingy that shoots up into the air, like 0 to 100 in a second or something, and then bounces up and down until it comes to a rest again. I rode twice because Heather didn't want to ride alone and Dennis refused. Loved it. The initial jolt is pretty crazy, but I actually kind of prefer it to some roller coaster jolts.
Yesterday morning Dennis and Heather left early so they could make it to a No Doubt concert at Nissan Pavilion. Danny and I stayed in town. We ate donuts made at this little convenience store type place, then went and played another game of minigolf (I played even worse). After that, we left, and the ride home was pretty long because we caught up to traffic around the Bay Bridge.
So that was the weekend. Today I had my first day at my new job, little mom&pop-type grocery store called Country Boy. I'm just ringing... it's pretty simple, although it's an old timey machine where you enter each price rather than scanning items, and you have to memorize what a lot of the produce is and how much it costs. It'll be boring but easy, and everyone's nice. The boss is willing to work with my school hours. We haven't talked pay yet, but the woman who trained me today said she started three months ago at $9.50/hr, which would be perfectly fine with me.
Uh yeah. I guess that's mostly it for now. I want to write some today. There are some new challenges at RCR, so I think I'll enter. Still not much in the way of response to my stuff, but my entries to two of the challenges have gotten a vote or two since they were posted, so that's something.
