.132 x one major obstacle down!
So I finished my research paper for HONR219V (which I am currently half-listening to) in record time compared to what I was expecting. I finished in my second class this morning because the lecture was next to pointless. I missed both lectures last week but he's STILL on plate tectonics and volcanoes etc. even though that was what he left off on the Thursday before last. So yeah. I skipped Psych to attempt to do the smaller assignment for HONR219V (it was checked out at the library, but I got to it later) because I find that I can actually study the Psych book reliably and even learn better than just attending lecture. Plus he's been getting really good lately about posting his lectures online, and his notes are even better than the ones I take in class.
Now I just really hope I get an A on the paper. I have no way of telling... I feel like I did pretty well, but I do have about equal tendency of writing the exact topic my teachers wanted or straying just enough to lose a letter grade or two. I'm pretty hopeful since the topic was broad: Contraception as concerns science, religion, and freedom. No specific question to answer, which is my main weakness, it seems.
So it took me longer to come back and finish this entry than anticipated (not that anyone minds, haha), but here it goes. My account is scheduled to be billed today to renew my paid LJ, so I upgraded to paying once a year. Quite the savings, went from $21 for 6 months to $29.95 for a year, including the extra userpics.
Class last night was pretty interesting despite the fact that I was updating my LJ during it... We were learning about the theory of relativity. Which is really cool since I thought it was really only a scifi thing, not really proven, but apparently it's about as close to proven as science gets these days. My prof said they have to factor for the theory of relativity in the paths of the satellites that map GPS locations etc.
Anyway, I'm pretty damn broke now, though it doesn't look it. I have about $70 in the bank, but $20 of that is gas that hasn't posted, $30 is LJ that hasn't posted, and another $15 or so is Amazon that hasn't posted (I had to buy books for the class with the stupid teacher). I should really by the String Theory DVDs for HONR267, but there's supposed to be a copy in Hornbake so I'm going to save buying them for a last resort.
I totally just took a five hour break from writing this... anyway, I just interviewed at my gym for a job. I didn't think it would take long, but there were probably about a hundred people there. I was there for three and a half hours. I don't even know for sure how well it went, but I'm supposed to hear back by May 2nd at the latest. I also asked at the desk at my dorm about working there next semester, and they said the application should go up online soon, so I'll check back for that regularly. I'm going to watch a video for HONR267, then stop by Starbucks to ask about transferring, and then go see Danny at his work.
I have a feeling I had more to say, but I should really get to work. I spent about a half an hour before writing this talking to Laura because she's feeling down about how poorly she's doing in her math class. I'm trying to help her realize she can relax during the exams and skip a problem to come back to it later if it stumps her, because doing the later problems could warm her up to it. I really hope it helped. She said it did, but it's easier said than done, of course. I was lucky enough to be born/raised with the ability to be calm taking tests. I'm like, "Nervous? Who gets nervous about this? It's not even that different from homework." It's actually easier in a lot of cases because of the limited time you're given. It can't be all that complicated or you'd need a lot more time.
But I'm rambling when I said I needed to do work. So peace.
